I Wonder As I Wander
There are a lot of puzzling things in the Christmas story that make people say, “I wonder…” What do people wonder about how Jesus was born? What do they wonder about the star? What do they wonder about the visit the shepherds got in their fields?
Check out the words to the Christmas song, “I wonder As I Wonder.” What is the person speaking the words in the song wondering about? The most puzzling part of the Christmas story is why Jesus would die for poor, ornery sinners like me…or you. But you know the answer. What is it? (Remember John 3:16?)
When your sins bother you, when your failures get you down, when the way others treat you makes you think you are worthless, remember that you never have to wonder about whether Jesus loves you. He died for you to prove he loves you!

Read 1 Timothy 1:15. Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst.
————————-
Close with a prayer thanking Jesus for coming to suffer and die for you, and asking him to keep you marveling at his great love for you.
I wonder as I wander out under the sky
How Jesus the Savior did come for to die
For poor on’ry people like you and like I;
I wonder as I wander out under the sky
When Mary birthed Jesus ’twas in a cow’s stall
With wise men and farmers and shepherds and all
But high from God’s heaven, a star’s light did fall
And the promise of ages it then did recall.
If Jesus had wanted for any wee thing
A star in the sky or a bird on the wing
Or all of God’s Angels in heaven to sing
He surely could have it, ’cause he was the King
I wonder as I wander out under the sky
How Jesus the Savior did come for to die
For poor on’ry people like you and like I;
I wonder as I wander out under the sky
